Hazel is a beautiful, athletic, fun loving 28Kg mix breed. Hazel is approximately two years old, spayed, and after what is presumed to be a hard start to life is now rediscovering her puppy and playful side. She is intelligent, strong and with bursts of great energy and speed. Multiple walks and play each day is required. She is looking for a loving home to fulfill her immense potential. Hazel is eager to learn and very curious about things in the home and in her surroundings. She can be timid with new people, the unknown or unfamiliar and is learning with persistence and managing new things well. She loves the outdoors, hiking, parks and trails. On lead she is very good, is food motivated and responds positively to treat-training. She is prey driven, so will try and chase a squirrel or deer given the opportunity. Hazel is loyal to all members of the household and initially will likely make a special attachment to one individual. Because of her unknown start to life, she has not been left alone and is about 90% house trained. With some training and patience this should be easily overcome. She enjoys being in the car travelling with her people and is very social. She has found her voice and will provide notification when someone is at the door. She’s good with other dogs, loves to run off leash (in a secure area) with other dogs and has fun exploring. Hazel likes the water and will retrieve a stick as long as she doesn’t have to swim, chewing her toys inside or finding sticks to play with in the yard. And if you want to cuddle up with her and watch some TV she is all in! Hazel would be happy in a fenced yard, or a larger property, with no small children or cats. She will also need someone that is willing to continue with her positive reinforcement training.
