A Christmas Miracle

Folks, meet Bucky a truly sweet pit bull cross who has had a turn of luck, just in time for Christmas — thanks to VHS. Bucky is from a reserve in Litton and was living in marginal circumstances which caused him to be malnourished. In his quest for food, Bucky made the mistake of trying to eat a deer that a neighbour had recently hunted and left in the open. That act led to Bucky being shot no less than 3 times. Miraculously, he survived. He is now is foster care, he’s doing really well and is eating like a horse. Bucky will soon be available for adoption.

If you are interested in Bucky, make sure to fill out an adoption application. And, if you’d like to contribute to the emergency medical expenses VHS incurred in saving Bucky, please click “Donate”!

You are the lifeblood of our work on behalf of animals.

As a non-profit organization, the Victoria Humane Society depends entirely on donations from kind-hearted people like you. Every month, we rescue literally dozens of dogs and cats, and sometimes other small animals, many from horrific circumstances such as neglect, starvation and abuse. The associated costs of rescue are significant, from arranging transportation for the animals out of remote communities and into our care, to emergency medical bills to save animals lives, to spay and neuter costs, vaccinations, hospitalizations, medications and on-going food costs and incidentals. Monthly and one-time donors are literally our most critical form of support. We thank you for donating what you can today.
