Trooper VHS Rescue Cat Has Almost 10,000 Instagram Followers!

A VHS rescue cat named Trooper has attracted a following of 9,446 people. Follow @wobblycats for some classic photos and videos of Trooper and friends. What makes Trooper such a star is that he has a neurological condition called CH which stands for Cerebellar Hypoplasia. CH in cats is a non-progressive disease, meaning it does not worsen with age. It occurs when the cerebellum, the part of the brain which controls fine motor skills and coordination, is not completely mature at birth. How this presents in a cat is that they appear drunk as they frequently fall over when attempting to walk. The good news is that Trooper thinks he’s normal and has adapted brilliantly to his handicap. He uses his litter box properly, but needs help jumping up on the bed for cuddles. Happily, his family have built a ramp for him and love him to pieces. Trooper gives us all a valuable lesson in loving and caring for an animal who may not appear perfect, but is perfect in every way. Thanks to Charla, Trooper’s cat Mom, for adopting this wonderful boy, who brings joy and hilarity every day. While some people believe cats with CH should be put down, Trooper proves that just ain’t true! Learn more about Trooper and his amazing story and antics by visiting his Instagram feed!

You are the lifeblood of our work on behalf of animals.

As a non-profit organization, the Victoria Humane Society depends entirely on donations from kind-hearted people like you. Every month, we rescue literally dozens of dogs and cats, and sometimes other small animals, many from horrific circumstances such as neglect, starvation and abuse. The associated costs of rescue are significant, from arranging transportation for the animals out of remote communities and into our care, to emergency medical bills to save animals lives, to spay and neuter costs, vaccinations, hospitalizations, medications and on-going food costs and incidentals. Monthly and one-time donors are literally our most critical form of support. We thank you for donating what you can today.
